About

I've been playing with paint for a while but Christchurch's 2010 earthquake was a launching pad of my vision to become an artist and art therapist.

Earthquakes have a way of shaking you out of the old and into the new. Art was a crucial part of my healing/coping journey and I plan to work with others in that healing journey.  I teach art journalling as a step towards this goal and last year I enjoyed studying with The Learning Connexion as a recipient of the Oriel Hoskin Scholarship.

Mixed media and acrylics are my current passions but I have also enjoyed exploring and adding a digital element to my portfolio.

Most of the art in my portfolio is available as either a box canvas print or faux canvas print. You can contact me on dorothymurgatroyd@gmail.com for prices and postage.

My current art is a reflection on the soul - "soulscapes" depicting the layers of the soul, the layers of healing, the influences of our generational lines and history, the words that create and form our souls & God's exchange of beauty & healing for our ashes of mourning.
